Unless you live under a rock, you have heard of Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James. If you are a female,  chances are you have read at least one, if not all, of the books in the trilogy. You may have also been sweating out who would be playing Ana and Christian in the movie. I’m a writer so I love to read, too.

What good writer doesn’t? Last year, I caved to the peer pressure from my girlfriends. I decided to read the book. I am not one to knock another writer’s work. I’d never do it, so I won’t. Suffice it to say, it wasn’t my thing. Enough said.

With all the buzz about the trilogy, the upcoming movie, the quotes from the book, t-shirts, posters, and spoofs, you might be thinking, what else could there be? Well, as it turns out, there is also wine. Yep.

We can now purchase Fifty Shades of Grey wine. There are two different varietals. One is White Silk. It is described as “floral aromatics of lychee, honey and pear [which] lead off this white blend, tempered by flavors of crisp grapefruit, mineral and lush pear with a faint hint of butterscotch”. Interesting. The other wine is the Red Satin, which is said to be a decadent blend that “has flavors of black cherry, cocoa powder, creamy caramel and vanilla, leather and clove spice”. Now I’m even more intrigued. I may need to check out these wines.

Will I ever finish reading the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy? Probably not. Will I see the movie? I think I might. I’m thinking I’ll like the movie adaptation better than the book. I doubt I’ll see it in the theater, though. I feel like this would be best suited as a “Girl’s Night In” with my closest friends, watching in our sweats while indulging in plenty of food, gossip, and wine. Laters, baby.
