Hawk Haven Vineyards

The Hawk Haven story begins back in 1940 when Johan Felix Wuerker traveled from Germany to Cape May, New Jersey and purchased the land that would one day become a vineyard and winery. Three generations later the farmland was still in the family and it became Todd Wuerker’s turn to choose something to plant. The youngest of three sons, Todd and his older brother Ken planted the first grapevines, Cabernet Sauvignon, in 1997 before he was even of the legal drinking age.

Hawk Haven Proprietor’s Red Blend   [750 mL Bottle $19]
A great red blend that drinks with rich red fruits and a medium body. On the nose, cinnamon, red cherry and rose petal. Up front on the palate notes of raspberry, cola and black pepper lead into red apple and dark chocolate on the finish.

Blend: 77% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petite Sirah

Hawk Haven Quill   [750 mL $35]
Q is a “Bordeaux” style blend. Having a climate similar to the Bordeaux region of France, we find this to be one of the most distinguished blends from Hawk Haven. This wine is complex and balanced with blackberry, black cherry and vanilla to fill out the aromas. The palate has notes of black currant, plum, and allspice, with harmonious acidity and smooth tannins.

Blend: 40% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Franc

Hawk Haven Flying Press Red   [375 mL Can $8.99]
A red table wine is meant to be light, fruit-forward and easy drinking, and with the Flying Press Red that’s exactly what you get. We think this red is easy enough to enjoy on its own, but if you’d like to pair it with food it is delightful as a pizza and pasta wine. Cherry, pomegranate, and cinnamon stick on the nose, followed by smooth notes of cinnamon, raspberry, red cherry, and a touch of vanilla on the palate. Short clean finish filled with light oak tannins and lingering notes of baker’s chocolate and clove.

Hawk Haven Pinot Grigio      [750 mL Bottle $19]
As a classic style Pinot Grigio, this wine is fruity and easy-drinking. Bright lemon zest and grapefruit on the nose, accompanied by white peach and nectarine on the palate. The finish is clean and simple with hints of lemon zest.

Hawk Haven Riesling   [750 mL Bottle $19]
